Q: How long and how many times a week are practices?
A: The coach determine the number of practices, length and starting time. Usually 1-1/2 to 2 hours, twice a week.
Q: Is my child expected to attend all practices every week?
A: Players are expected to attend all practices and to notify the coach, prior to practice, if they cannot attend.
Q: Will my child play in every game?
A: Players' field time is at the discretion of the coach but we encourage an ample amount of playing time per player where applicable.
Q: How far do you travel to a game?
A: Generally less than 1 hour. Excluding tournaments and State Cup play, teams generally travel within an hours distance.
Q: Do you travel every weekend?
A: No. Every schedule includes home games. Home games are played at Recreation park with the possibility of games being played at Southington High School on sundays also.
Q: Are games played on just weekends?
A: Games could be scheduled for Friday, Saturdays or Sundays, and many times both, this depends on which League the team your child is assigned to is playing.
Q: When and where are the tournaments?
A: Tournaments are normally held on the weekends during the fall and spring seasons. Participation in these tournaments is up to the coach, players and parents.
Q: How many games are in a tournament?
A: Usually a minimum of 3 games and a maximum of 6. It varies by tournament.
Q: Is my child expected to be at every game?
A: Players are expected to attend all games.
Q: How many children will be rostered on the team?
A: The travel director and the coach determine the number of players on a team as well as availability of players.
Q: When and how will a parent be notified if their child has made a team?
A: Tryout participants will be notified by Southington staff after the tryouts.
Q: Can my child play another sport/activity while being on the Travel soccer team?
A: Yes, as long as they can attend all practices and games.
